Aquasol ASW-60/R-15 water soluble paper roll is suitable for sealing the two ends of the pipe & keeping purge gas contained during TIG welding applications. Pipes are purged before TIG welding of stainless steel, aluminium and other corrosion-resistant pipe materials to prevent oxidation & ensure a clean, quality weld. After the work is completed, they are dissolved easily by flushing the pipe with water or steam to ensure restriction-free flow in the pipe.
Features:
- Aquasol ASW-60/R-15 water soluble paper roll dissolves quickly during water or steam hydro-test without leaving any residue in the pipeline.
- It is made of 100 percent biodegradable sodium carboxy methyl cellulose & wooden pulp.
- This water-soluble paper roll is compatible with pipes having diameters ranging from 2 to 36 inches.
- It has 0.007-inch thickness & 15-1/2 inch width and comes in an overall length of 165 feet for fitting pipes having a minimum diameter of 4 inches.
Compatible Accessories:
- Oxygen Purge Monitors: They measure the oxygen volume in a purge area for ensuring safe levels & quality welds.
- Aquasol Water Soluble Tapes: These tapes are pasted inside the pipe over the purge dam. They get dissolved in water.
- Aquasol Aluminium Tapes: These tapes are installed over the pipe's outer surface at the weld zone.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. How to install this Aquasol ASW-60/R-15 water soluble paper roll?
A.
- Before constructing a purge dam, clean the surface where welding will be done till the location where the purge dam will be placed.
- Clean the pipe ends (especially the insides) with a grease wipe to remove contaminants.
- Take this roll and trace the pipe's inner diameter on it by pressing against the pipe.
- Cut an Aquasol paper in a circular shape with 1.3 times diameter than the pipe's inner diameter.
- Slit 1 to 2-inch (approximately) segments perpendicularly to the impression on paper without exceeding the inner diameter circle.
- Fold the segments inwards along the inner diameter at 90 degrees to form the purge dam's skirt.
- Tape the segments with water-soluble tapes before positioning the dam inside the pipe. Tape the dam in place.
- Repeat the process on the second pipe.
- Make a small hole in the dam to allow escaping oxygen to go away from the weld zone. Users can also allow oxygen to escape via a root gap made at the pipe edges where welding would take place.
- Cover the root gap with the brand's EZ Zone tape.
- Introduce a noble gas (like argon) to purge the oxygen & make the weld zone inert.
- Test the oxygen level in the purge area.
- Start welding.
- Once the welding is finished, flush the pipe with water to remove the purge dam & tapes.
Q. Why is a water-soluble paper roll better than a purge bladder?
A. A water-soluble paper roll or purge paper is installed closer to the weld zone than purge bladders. Doing this makes a smaller chamber comparatively and reduces the purge gas amount required.
Q. Why are purge paper rolls better than purge paper sheets?
A. Purge paper rolls do not come in a predetermined shape, unlike the purge paper sheets and can be cut to the required length. This decreases the total paper used compared to purge paper sheets. Purge paper rolls are also easier to transport & store.
