Product Details:
Val-Matic 506A Swing-Flex check valve is used in irrigation systems, fire protection services, wastewater treatment plants and mining facilities. It allows the flow of seawater, corrosive chemicals and abrasive slurries in one direction while preventing backflow and eliminating the possibility of leakage.
Features:
- Val-Matic 506A Swing-Flex check valve provides 100% unrestricted flow area to lower head loss and improve flow characteristics.
- It features an integral O-ring on the disc to ensure positive sealing at high & low pressures.
- This check valve uses a short disc stroke in combination with the unique Memory-Flex action of the valve's disc to operate it as a non-slam check valve.
- Its smooth, unrestricted, full-flow design makes it a perfect choice for sludge & slurries, even in vertical flow-up applications.
- This standard Swing-Flex check valve is made of heavy-duty cast iron and has a rubber-enclosed disc for ensuring high compression strength.
- The inner and outer surfaces of this check valve feature fusion bonded epoxy coating for strong adhesion to the surface and penetration resistance against aggressive chemicals.
- This valve is capable of withstanding pressures up to 250 psi.
Compatible Accessories:
- Mechanical Disc Position Indicators: These indicators provide clear indication of the position of the valve's disc.
- Limit Switches: These switches are recommended for applications requiring remote indication of the valve's open or close position.
- Backflow Actuators: These actuators are mounted on the valve's bottom to allow manual backflow through the valve in the opposite direction.
- Oil Cushions: They hydraulically control the last 10% of valve closure in just 1 to 5 seconds to minimise water hammer.
- Tapped Ports: These top and bottom NPT ports are suitable for pressure testing, sampling and sediment removal.
- Rubber Linings: The brand's interior rubber linings are well suited for systems containing corrosive or abrasive fluids.
- Glass Linings: Val-Matic interior linings provide a smooth and non-sticky surface.
Standards and Approvals:
- American Water Works Association Standard ANSI / AWWA C508.2.2
- NSF / ANSI 61
- ISO 9001
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What is the difference between a swing check valve and a spring check valve?
A.
- Swing check valves feature a flapper that swings off the seat to provide forward flow and then swings back onto the seat as the flow is stopped.
- Spring-loaded check valves have a spring for assisting the closing of the check valve.
Q. When should check valves be used?
A. Check valves are normally used in pump discharge systems to prevent reverse flow from the downstream system when pumps are shut off. They also resist the backflow of contaminated media in branches back into the main trunk line.
Q. Can we use Val-Matic 506A Swing-Flex check valve vertically?
A. Yes, swing check valves can be installed in both horizontal and vertical directions.
Q. What causes a check valve to fail?
A.
- Debris in the pipeline.
- Worn elastomers & seat seals.
- Operation in excessively high temperature conditions.
- Improper valve installation, assembly and maintenance.
Q. How do you maintain a check valve?
A.
- Keep it clean.
- Keep the valve lubricated.
- Apply protective insulation.
