Q. How is this Milwaukee 2882-M 2-inch gate valve installed?
A.
- Clean the piping system thoroughly before valve installation.
- Remove valve end caps & any packaging from the valve and inspect the valve ports & seating surfaces.
- Provide support to the valve to prevent unwanted stresses. The valve should have an adequate straight pipe from the equipment to prevent vibrations.
- Use full-face gaskets & centre them to prevent internal valve leakage.
- Bolt the flange inline using full-face gaskets.
- Verify the tightness & proper installation of the valve by operating it from fully open to close positions.
Q. What are the steps for the maintenance of this Milwaukee gate valve?
A.
- Adjust the stem packing & the cycling of the valve from open to closed position periodically.
- In case of a packing leak, increase the pressure on the stem packing by adjusting the packing gland nut in the clockwise direction until the leakage stops.
- The packing should be changed whenever a new stem is installed.
