- Clean spindle and flange mounting surfaces. Check for nicks, cuts and sharp edges.
- Install washers (if needed) and backup pads. Check the backup pad's flatness and runout by rotating the spindle and backup pad together.
- Install abrasive disc over spindle thread.
- Install the flange nut and secure it firmly against the abrasive disc. Ensure that the disc is centred on the spindle and backup pad with a maximum of 1/4 inch overhang.
- Check the disc firmness by holding the spindle and pulling on the edge of the wheel in the tightening direction.
