Product Details:
Vertical hold down clampsare suitable for pushing the clamping arm or the attached spindle against the workpieces using a straight handle that is positioned perpendicularly to the base (when in locked position). These manual clamps are used for applications that require clamping & detaching of the same workpieces repeatedly. Destaco 533 & 535 Seriesvertical hold down clamps are used to hold workpieces against flat surfaces in assembly, checking fixtures, welding & heavy duty clamping operations. These manual toggle clamps have robust steel construction with hardened steel bushings at pivot points for heavy duty clamping applications and withstanding rough usage / handling. They feature a solid clamping bar with bolt retainers for attaching a spindle at a fixed, customer specified position. These solid bars can also be modified to accommodate diverse application requirements. Destaco 535-L hold down clamp is equipped with flange mounting for installation of the clamp on horizontal surfaces. This clamp is equipped with large bar guides for providing lateral support to the clamp while holding loads up to 2250 lb. Raptor Supplies also offers these clamps in variants having a maximum holding capacity of 1575 lb; a straight base for installation of the clamp on vertical surfaces.
Uses:
This Destaco 535-L vertical hold down clamp is used for checking fixtures, welding, assembly & testing, milling and heavy duty clamping applications in consumer goods, aerospace, transportation and food & packaging industries.
Features:
- Destaco 535-L vertical hold down clamp has heavy duty steel construction with hardened bushings & pivot pins for robustness and withstanding rough handling without bending / breaking under heavy loads.
- It has a flange base mounting style, providing a maximum holding capacity of 2250 lb.
- This clamp has a solid clamping bar that can be modified to handle varying application requirements.
- It is equipped with a straight vertical handle that opens up to 90 degrees to open the clamp bar up to 120 degrees.
- The clamp comes with a bolt retainer for fixing the spindle at a customer specified position on the clamping bar.
- This clamp has a height of 2.63 inches and clamp arm length of 3.35 inches.
- It has large bar guides for providing lateral support while performing heavy duty applications.
Compatible Accessories:
- Raptor Supplies can deliver Destaco 535108-M bolt retainer to replace worn out or faulty spindle assembly retainers in Destaco 535-L clamp.
Standards and Approvals:
- Destaco 535-L vertical hold down clamp is designed in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015 standards to ensure environmental health, safety and efficient performance of the clamp.
Installation:

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What other variants of Destaco 535-L clamp are available on Raptor Supplies?
A. Raptor Supplies offers similar manual clamps having a straight base (535-LB) for installation on vertical surface of the clamp. For more variants related to Destaco 535-L clamp, visit Destaco 533 & 535 Series clamps page on our website.
Q. How do vertical hold down clamps work?
A. Vertical hold down clamps are manually operated using vertical handles / levers to move their clamping arms or the attached spindles against the workpieces and prevent them from moving mid-operation for secure clamping.
Q. What is the difference between a vertical & horizontal toggle clamp?
A. The difference between vertical & horizontal toggle clamps can be easily noticed by the locking position of their clamp handles. Vertical clamp handles are vertically or perpendicularly positioned to the base in locked position, whereas the horizontal toggle clamps are positioned horizontally or parallel to the base.
Q. What does holding capacity mean in terms of clamps?
A. The term "holding capacity" or the holding force indicates the capability of the clamp to hold down the equipment, workpiece or sheet metal on the assembly line or during other manufacturing processes.
Q. How is clamping force different from the holding force / capacity?
A. Clamping force or exerting force denotes the actual force exerted by the clamp onto the workpieces for holding them. The measure of holding force or capacity indicates the ideal strength of the clamp measured during the clamp manufacturing process. The clamping force is generally lesser than the holding capacity, due to several factors like the position of spindles in the clamping bars and the opposing force applied on the clamp.
Q. What are the recommended coupling greases for use with Destaco clamps when servicing?
A. Lubricant like Mobil XTC is recommended for use with Destaco manual clamps during the their rebuilding or maintenance.
Q. Are Destaco clamps rust resistant?
A. Yes, All of the Destaco carbon steel clamps are zinc plated to resist & reduce wear & tear due to harsh industrial environments. Destaco also offers stainless steel clamps for applications requiring clamping in outdoor conditions.
