Altronix NetWay1EV Hi-PoE midspan power injector is designed to connect a network camera, IP phones and a wireless access point to a network switch. This midspan power injector helps the existing network to support PoE and offer auto detection & protection of legacy non PoE cameras or edge devices. This single port injector is an enhanced midspan power injector that sources power up to 85W for LTPoE++ 70W, 52.7W & 38.7W compliant devices. It is also fully compatible with PoE (15W) and PoE+ (30W) powered devices. Altronix NetWay1EV Hi-PoE midspan power injector receives its power supply through an IEC 320 connector (located at the backside of the device) that comes with a voltage rating of 115VAC at 1.5A current. It features an RJ45 port that transmits data over 4 pairs of CAT5e or higher structured cables at 10 / 100 / 1000 BaseT speed. Altronix NetWay1EV midspan power injector incorporates numerous safety features, such as short circuit & overload protection, PoE manual shutdown, auto-detection & protection facility of legacy non-PoE cameras / devices, and LED indicators for port, PoE & IP link status. This device passes data over an ethernet / data cable that is already in place, instead of installing additional power sockets for each of the devices, thereby reducing extra wiring. It can be installed on a wall or shelf for use in indoor spaces.
Uses:
Altronix NetWay1EV Hi-PoE (Power over Ethernet) midspan injector can be connected to powered devices like PoE cameras, fixed IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, security cameras & networked audio devices to extend network link distance in offices, commercial buildings & industrial spaces.
Features:

- It provides fully compliant and backward compatibility with existing powered devices, such as PoE (15W) and PoE+ (30W), respectively.
- This NetWay1EV Hi-PoE (Power over Ethernet) injector also supports LTPoE++ specified 70W, 52.7W and 38.7W PD compliant devices, eliminating the need for installing electrical infrastructure.
- It offers integral short circuit & overload protection by using a low voltage input rated at 230VAC.
- Altronix NetWay1EV Hi-PoE (Power over Ethernet) injector has a built-in PoE and Power LED indicator for monitoring the correct operation procedure.
- It operates at temperatures ranging from -20 to 49 degrees C (at 85W power) and -20 to 55 degrees C (at 55W power).
- This midspan injector can be operated at altitudes ranging from -304.8 to 609.6 metres (-1000 to 2000 ft).
- IEEE 802.3af compliant NetWay1 PoE midspan power injector is also available, for supplying up to 15W safe power over ethernet to each powered device in indoor facilities.
Compatible Accessories:
- 4-pair CAT5e or higher structured cable can be used with Altronix NetWay1EV midspan injector to transfer power & data (audio, visual and text) to powered devices.
Standards and Approvals:
- Altronix NetWay1EV midspan power injector is CE (European Conformity) compliant and UL & cUL listed for ensuring user safety and enhanced performance of the device.
Installation:
- Altronix NetWay1EV midspan injector can be placed or mounted in the desired location.
- It comes with a grounded AC line cord that can be plugged into the IEC 320 connector of the unit. Plug the unit into an earth grounded socket. (Note: The user should ensure that while using multiple units, the sum of the individual name plate ratings should not exceed the supply circuit rating. Do not connect to a receptacle controlled by a switch.)
- Then, connect a structured cable from UL listed ethernet switch or video server to RJ45 jack marked [IN] & from the PoE device to the RJ45 jack marked [OUT] on the unit.
- PoE ON LED will illuminate, indicating that the PoE device is turned on.
- Voltage in the range of 12 to 24VAC or 5 to 24VDC is manually applied to the [PoE Shutdown] marked input terminal to stop the output power supplied by the power injector.
- The NetWay1EV unit starts supplying power normally to powered devices once the applied voltage is removed from the shutdown terminal.
(Note: Return to normal operation from shutdown can take about 4 seconds. When PoE power is removed, devices may still present data signals on line pairs of the structured cable)
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. How does the PoE midspan injector work?
A. Using PoE injectors, the user transmits data and power through the ethernet cable between the injector & the IP camera, at the same time. The data gets transmitted from the switch into the injector, thereby feeding it to the IP camera through the ethernet cable.
Q. What are the advantages of midspan power injectors?
A. Midspan power injectors deliver power & data to powered devices with superior reliability, faster transmission speeds and better security as compared to WiFi enabled cameras. These injectors also reduce the wiring associated with directly powered devices.
Q. Can we power a network switch with PoE?
A. Power over Ethernet (PoE) passes through switches that can operate both ways, as a Powered Device (PD) and a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE). This means the switch can be powered by PoE while providing power, simultaneously.
