VICTOR Cutting Tip Acetylene
It takes more than just the power source or welding gun to choose equipment that provides quality and productivity in a welding operation. The use of contact nozzles / tips makes a significant difference for running an efficient process and accruing downtime to correct problems. Raptor Supplies... offers Victor cutting nozzles that are used with acetylene for general purpose hand and machine torches.Read more

Cutting Tip Acetylene
Victor cutting nozzles are designed to provide quick heat using acetylene and atmospheric air. These cutting nozzles have a compact design and ensure high quality cuts. They feature swaged orifices to ensure little gas turbulence and minimal slag accumulation. Victor cutting nozzles have a smooth tip surface for optimum heat reflection and less spatter accumulation. They are designed for use with acetylene to produce the highest flame temperature of all fuel gases and generate a highly focused flame.
Uses
Victor cutting nozzles are ideal for fabrication, construction, repair & maintenance of metal and metal alloy workpieces in railroads, shipyards, farms and automobile shops.
Working Mechanism
Victor cutting nozzles allow preheating the metal to its ignition temperature. These cutting nozzles release a jet of acetylene to react with the material to be cut, at a flow rate sufficient to blow away the slag.
Cutting:
- To complete the installation of Victor torch handle, connect Victor cutting attachment and an appropriate cutting tip to the handle.
- Follow the instructions on the supplied instruction manual to control the pressure of acetylene and oxygen using the regulators attached to the gas cylinders.
- Victor torch handle has two knobs - an acetylene knob and an oxygen knob. Raise the torch assembly near the workpiece, light a match or lighter, and control the flame using the torch handle's acetylene and oxygen knobs.
- Bring this torch assembly near the prepared metal workpiece and start heating metal near the cutting edge.
- Within a short period of time, the heated edge would begin melting. Use the cutting oxygen lever to provide a high pressure oxygen blast to remove the melted materials and begin cutting the metal.
It is important to close the acetylene and oxygen valves on Victor torch handle and gas cylinders after cutting or welding metal workpieces. The cut or welded metal piece should be sanded for smooth edges and surfaces.
Features
- Victor cutting nozzles provide quick heat with acetylene and atmospheric air.
- The swaged orifices reduce gas turbulence and eliminate the possibility of slag accumulation.
- For optimal heat reflection and less spatter accumulation, Victor cutting nozzles have smooth tip surfaces.
- Using acetylene, they produce the highest flame temperature of all fuel gases, as well as a highly focused flame.
- Victor cutting nozzles feature a compact design and ensure high quality cuts.
Compatible Accessories
- Victor Cutting Attachments: Victor light / medium duty cutting attachments are used with a tip to transform them into a cutting torch. These attachments feature a spiral mixer to blend oxygen & fuel, and a brass coupling nut with double O-ring seals for quick gas tight connection without a wrench.
- Victor Gas Welding Outfit Kits: These welding outfit kits comprise SR Series regulators, 315FC torch handle with built in flashback arrestors and check valves, a cutting attachment with tips, and a welding nozzle. These Victor cutting nozzles can be used to replace the ones in the kit, if they are damaged.
Installation
Ensure that the welding torch tips and heads are fitted properly by looking for distortions, burrs or damaged surfaces that might cause leakage and poor performance. Attach the connecting nuts of the welding torch tips and hand tighten them as the sealing rings provide the seal. Make sure that the cutting tip nuts are snug, but not excessively tight, or the seats might get damaged. The cutting tip nuts are reamed for metal to metal sealing.
Upon installation, check all connections and valves for leaks with a leak test solution compatible with oxygen. Clean the equipment with water after use.
Frequently Asked Questions
How to choose the correct cutting tip?
- Seat Type: The type of seat you need to replace depends on the model of welding torch and cutting tips you want to replace. If this isn't checked, it can lead to damage to the equipment or dangerous leaks of flammable gases.
- Metal Thickness: Since the centre hole of the cutting and gouging tip is sized to deliver the right amount of oxygen at the right pressure for a specific metal thickness, it is very important to know the thickness of the metal being cut. Additionally, the pre-heat orifice is designed to handle proper amounts of mixed gas to adequately heat particular thicknesses of metal.
- Application: Tip designs are specific to applications for which they are intended. Some tips are designed to cut, some are used to gouge and some are used for heating. Cutting tips designed specifically to be used with automated cutting machinery for high pressure cutting enable faster & more precise cuts.
- Fuel Gas: Oxyfuel cutting involves the use of various types of gases. By optimising the way oxygen and fuel gas are delivered, cutting tips are designed differently for each fuel gas.
What are the safety tips one should be aware of before using welding and cutting torch equipment?
- Keep equipment clean and in safe operating condition - free from oil and grease.
- Keep equipment free of gas leaks at all times.
- The equipment should be located at a safe distance (at least 25 ft) from flammable materials and gas tanks. When a safe distance cannot be maintained, use fire resistant covers or screens to prevent sparks from combustibles, or wet combustibles from igniting.
- Ensure using the equipment in a well ventilated area and avoid breathing in fumes. If ventilation is inadequate to prevent harmful accumulation of fumes, or if you work in a confined area, wear a respirator.
- The operator must use safety goggles with appropriate filter lenses to reduce the risk of sparks and radiation. Since the flame can produce sparks and radiation, the operator should wear personal protective equipment.
- You should not weld or cut near areas where chlorinated hydrocarbon vapours from degreasing, cleaning or spraying can reach or be drawn into the surrounding air. The heat of the flame can decompose the vapours and produce highly toxic gases.
- Always purge gas lines individually before lighting the torch.
- Always open cylinder valves slowly.
- Before connecting to a new oxygen cylinder, completely drain gas from the oxygen regulator.
