Working Mechanism

Starrett mechanical outside micrometers come factory assembled and are capable of being operated just after being unpacked.
For measuring small objects with an outside micrometer, open the tool jaws and slip the object between the anvil and spindle.
Turn the thimble using your thumb while holding the object against the forefinger and anvil, until the spindle touches the object.
