RON CRANE SCALES Crane Dynamometer

Ron Crane Scales crane dynamometers measure the weight or force applied to a crane's hook or lifting equipment. They consist of a load sensor connected to the crane's lifting cable, which detects and displays the load's weight in real time. These dynamometers are useful in construction, manufac...turing, shipping and logistic applications. They optimise load distribution to avoid overloading and damage. These Ron Crane Scales dynamometers are majorly used by wind turbine operators / installers, shipping workers, safety inspection officers, oil & gas staffers and offshore workers.Read more

Working Mechanism

  • Before starting up the dynamometer, make sure that the shackles you intend to use are appropriate for the system.
  • After confirmation, press the power key to turn on the system.
  • The display will show BATT, then the remaining battery life (in percentage) of the indicator and then the load cell, followed by the unit of measurement.
  • Following that, the current weight value will be displayed.
  • Now, before loading the system, press the 'Zero' button.
  • After that, the system will read GROSS, and then 0.
  • Now, you can load the crane, and the dynamometer will show the exact loading value.
  • When you are finished with the system, press the power button to turn it off.
  • Finally, return both the load cell and indicator to their carrying case or another appropriate storage place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know when it is time to replace or charge the batteries?

The batteries should be charged:

  • Before using the unit for the first time.
  • If more than two months have passed since the last charge.
  • When the Ron dynamometer displays LO:BAT (low battery) on the screen.

Are these dynamometers safe for outdoor use?

Yes, Ron dynamometers are IP65-rated, making them ideal for use in outdoor settings.

How to switch between gross and net weight values on Ron Crane Scale dynamometers?

  • Ron dynamometers are equipped with a Tare function to allow the user to ensure the display reads zero even though there may be weight on the system from a sling, shackles or a container. This capability eliminates the need for the operator to subtract the weight of the container when only the net amount of the load is required.
  • To use the Tare mode, load the system with the container and then press TARE.
  • The screen will now display NET, then the value 0.
  • Zero display means that the system is now in Net mode.
  • The system will display NET on the screen about once every minute to remind the operator that it is in Net mode.
  • Now, to exit out of Net mode, press TARE again.
  • The display will show GROSS, indicating that the system is back in Gross mode.
  • Note that switching between Gross and Net modes will clear the MAX.

How often should I calibrate these dynamometers?

Ron dynamometers must be calibrated annually unless otherwise specified by national laws.

Do these dynamometers show the maximum registered load for every cycle?

Yes, these dynamometers from Ron Crane Scales have a MAX (peak hold) option that allows users to save the highest weight recorded since the system was last turned on or the Gross / Net mode was changed.
Press the MAX key until the display shows :M:AX. It will now display the maximum recorded load since the last MAX reset for approximately two seconds with colons between the digits. After that, the system goes back to the current value with a beep sound indicating that the system is now ready for a new operation.

What is the accuracy of Ron Crane Scales dynamometers?

They have an accuracy of +/- 0.1%.
