Working Mechanism
- Eaton GJ Series circuit breakers feature a thermal and magnetic mechanism to detect and interrupt faulty currents.
- The thermal element (bi-metallic strip) responds to prolonged overcurrents by monitoring the heat generated by the current flowing through the circuit breaker.
- The magnetic element (electromagnet) responds to sudden, large overcurrents by monitoring the magnetic field generated by the current.
- These thermal and magnetic elements trip and open the circuit if the temperature exceeds a certain threshold.
