Working Mechanism

  • Eaton's general-duty non-fusible safety switches use a simple operating handle to disconnect the electrical circuit from the main power supply.
  • When the handle is manually turned on, it causes the contacts to close, allowing electricity to flow through the circuit.
  • On the other hand, when the switch is turned off, the contacts are open, thus interrupting the flow of electricity.

Features

  • They are composed of high-quality materials that offer superior impact resistance and extended service life.
  • They come with a lock and tag out (LOTO) feature that ensures that dangerous equipment and machines are locked in the off position to prevent the inadvertent re-energisation of the electrical circuit.
  • They feature lockable handles and covers that can be padlocked in place, preventing unauthorised access and ensuring the safety of personnel during maintenance and repair.
  • They are integrated with flexible wires that allow ample wire bending for easier installation.
  • These non-fusible switches are available in NEMA 1 / 3R type enclosures and include a visible ON / OFF indicator for user convenience.

Standards and Approvals

  • UL

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between fusible and non-fusible switches?

Fusible switches have in-built fuses that provide overcurrent protection for the electrical circuit. While in non-fusible switches, the fuse is absent and they rely on other protective devices like circuit breakers or fuses located upstream to provide overcurrent protection in the circuit.

What is the purpose of the NEMA 1 enclosure?

NEMA 1 enclosure is designed for indoor use and provides protection against accidental contact with the enclosed equipment and protection against falling dirt.

How to maintain non-fusible safety switches?

  • Regularly inspect these switches to ensure proper functioning.
  • Clean them regularly to remove any dust or debris that may have accumulated on or around the switch.
  • The operating handle of the switch requires periodic lubrication to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
  • If any parts of non-fusible switches are worn or damaged, change them immediately.
  • Electrically test these switches periodically to ensure proper functioning.
