EATON Freedom Series Starters
Eaton Freedom Series starters are motor control devices used to start and stop electric motors while providing overload protection.
Working Mechanism
- The non-reversing starter controls the direction of rotation by controlling the direction of the current flow through the motor's windings.
- When the starter is in the forward position, current flows through the motor in one direction, causing it to rotate in the clockwise direction.
- When the starter is in the reverse position, the current flows in the opposite direction, causing the device to rotate in a counterclockwise direction.
Features
- These starters feature a compact, space-saving design that allows application where space is limited.
- These NEMA-rated non-reversing starters are designed to start & stop the motor in one direction only, allowing the starter to be used in applications where the direction of rotation is constant, such as in conveyors and other machinery.
- They also feature an overload relay with a reset button to protect the starter and equipment during overcurrent conditions.
- They include screw-type power terminals having self-lifting pressure plates to reduce wiring time.
- Selected models are available in reversing configuration and include added features like ground fault sensor and SEL reset.
Standards and Approvals

Frequently Asked Questions
What are NEMA enclosures?
NEMA enclosures are protective coverings designed to protect electrical equipment from environmental factors like dust, water, oil and other corrosive materials.
What is an SEL reset functionality?
If an SEL protective relay detects an abnormal condition, it trips a circuit breaker or initiates other protective measures to isolate the fault from the main circuit. After the fault has cleared, the relay can be reset to retract the current.
What are these starters made of?
These starters are made of high-strength, impact and temperature-resistant insulating materials, offering maximum protection to the critical components.
