Working Mechanism

  • These circuit breakers feature fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip mechanisms to protect electrical systems against overload conditions:

Fixed Thermal Trips

  • The thermal trip uses a bimetallic strip sensitive to temperature changes. When the current flow exceeds the rated value, the strip heats up and bends.
  • This causes the contacts to open and interrupt the current flow.

Fixed Magnetic Trips

  • The magnetic trip consists of an electromagnetic component that detects the presence of short circuits in a circuit. As the current rises, a magnetic field is generated that causes the displacement of the plunger in the tripping coil, forcing the contacts to open and interrupt the flow.

Standards and Approvals

  • UL

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I select the right MCCB for my application?

Consider factors like the current rating of the circuit, the type of load being protected, the expected fault current and the ambient temperature.

How to reset MCCBs?

MCCBs can be reset by pushing the circuit breaker handle to the extreme off position.

How to maintain these Eaton FDB Series complete moulded case circuit breakers?

  • Regularly inspect MCCBs for signs of wear, damage or overheating.
  • Clean them periodically to remove dust, dirt and other contaminants that can accumulate on the contacts and cause arcing or other issues.
  • Test them periodically to ensure that they are functioning properly.
  • Check the settings of MCCBs regularly to ensure that they are still appropriate for the load and the circuit being protected.
