Working Mechanism
- Eaton EDR-5000 Series relays use a combination of time-overcurrent and instantaneous overcurrent elements to detect faults in the distribution system.
- The time-overcurrent element detects overcurrent conditions that persist for a certain amount of time.
- The instantaneous overcurrent elements, on the other hand, detect high-magnitude fault currents, such as short circuits, to prevent damage to the equipment.
