Working Mechanism

  • Eaton D Series protection diodes become forward-biased when an overvoltage transient occurs to begin conducting current & diverting the transient energy away from the protected device.
  • They act as a protective barrier to isolate the device from the overvoltage event.
  • The diode becomes reverse-biased when the overvoltage event has passed to stop the current flow through the diode. The protected device can then resume its normal operation.
