EATON CH Series Neutral Bars
Eaton CH Series neutral bars are mechanical compression wire connection bars used in electrical panels to terminate neutral wires. They enable the termination of multiple wires in a single location, usually at the main service panel, in a compact space.
Working Mechanism
- The neutral bar in a distribution panel or load centre acts as a central connection point for all of the system's neutral wires.
- The neutral wires connecting to the neutral bar from each circuit breaker in the panel provide a common return path for the electrical current.
- As electrical current passes through the circuits, it is consumed by the loads before returning to the neutral bar via the neutral wires.
- The neutral bar then connects to the power source's neutral line, completing the electrical circuit.
Features
- Eaton CH Series neutral bars connect to the brand's CH Series circuit breakers in three-phase electrical circuits.
- They have NEMA 1-rated enclosures to protect the internal wires from dust and dirt.
- These bars feature an aluminium bus and have an interrupt rating of 10kAIC.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between ground and neutral wire?
Neutral wire is a return path for the current flowing from load to source. The ground wire is a low resistance path for fault current to flow to the ground.
How do you identify a neutral bar?
Neutral bars have a heavy, high-current path between the bar and neutral lug, which is itself isolated from the chassis. It is obvious that the neutral lug-to-bar connection is heavy and designed to flow a lot of current all the time. Ground bars are, by design, in direct contact with the panel chassis.
Can I use a neutral bar as a ground bar?
The size of the grounding wire at the main circuit breaker panel is determined by the incoming service wires. If properly wired, you use neutral as the ground line.
