EATON C30CN Series Non-Combination Electrically Held Lighting Contactors
Eaton C30CN Series electrically-held lighting contactors provide a safe, convenient means for local or remote switching of tungsten (incandescent filament) or ballast (fluorescent and mercury arc) lamp loads. They are also suitable for other loads, such as low-pressure and high-pressure sodium ...lamps and non-motor (resistive) loads.Read more
Working Mechanism
- When voltage is applied to the input terminals, the contractor is latched into position (coil is removed from the circuit while control voltage is continuously supplied).
- When the control voltage is removed, the latch is disengaged and the contractor is returned to its original state.
Features
- These electrically-held lighting contactors are suitable for applications which do not require contacts to stay closed with a loss of control power.
- They feature a contact position indication, wherein the contact is closed when the button protrudes.
- The operation command facility has a built-in 0.4-second delay to avoid multiple short-term commands that can cause contact failure.
- They are incorporated with a feedback loop that prevents the contractor from getting out of sequence with switches, even after power failures.
Standards and Approvals
- UL
Frequently Asked Questions
What are HID lamps?
HID (high-intensity discharge) lamps are the gas-discharge lamps which produce light by an electric arc between tungsten electrodes housed inside translucent fused quartz or fused alumina arc tube. These lamps are used over large areas where high levels of light are required and when energy efficiency or light intensity is desired.
What is magnet noise?
Magnet noise is an electromagnetically induced acoustic noise or coil whine produced by materials vibrating under the excitation of electromagnetic forces. The modular design of C30CN lighting contactors minimises magnetic noise and reduces vibrations during operation.
What are mechanically-held lighting contactors?
Mechanically-held lighting contactors have a mechanically-held operation that will not switch to an OFF position during power failure. They are designed with a permanent magnet that maintains the contractor in its energised state indefinitely without using the control power.
