Working Mechanism
- These contactors include a permanent magnet that keeps them electrified without the need for control power.
- A DC is used to power the latch coil, creating a magnetic field that strengthens the polarity of the permanent magnet and pulls in the contactor.
- The coil cleaning interlock cuts off the coil's current supply. Applying a field through the stop coil in the opposite direction of the permanent magnet required to drop out the contactor.
- The contactor slips out on the temporary cancellation of the magnetic attraction.
Features
- They feature a permanent magnet that will maintain the contactor in its energized state without using control power.
- These lighting contactors are easy to install & maintain and no control power is necessary to maintain contact closure.
- These contactors withstand the large initial inrush currents of tungsten lamp loads and do not require contact welding.
Standards and Approvals
- UL
- CSA
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a relay and a contactor?
Relays control contacts of an electrical circuit due to a change of parameters or conditions in the same circuit or any other associated circuit. Contactors, on the other hand, are used to interrupt or establish connections in an electrical circuit repeatedly under different conditions.
When do I need to replace a contactor?
Decrease in performance, such as frequent tripping, overheating or arcing, are signs that you should replace your contactor.
