DC Speed Control

Dayton DC speed controls are designed to control and monitor the performance of a DC motor. These speed controls feature transient and surge suppression ability to protect a motor against sudden electrical disturbances. They are equipped with a trimpot for easy acceleration and deceleration adjustments, are packed in a rugged NEMA / Chassis / IP 30 enclosure and come with run / stop and forward / reverse switches for easy operation. Choose from a wide range of Dayton DC speed controls, available for a maximum ampere rating of 10 A on Raptor Supplies.

Features

  • These units feature a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) to convert AC voltage to DC voltage, thereby providing variable speed control for DC motors.
  • They are integrated with a trimpot for easy acceleration & declaration adjustments and a patented Power Start feature that offers more than 200% starting torque, thus ensuring startup of high frictional loads.
  • These controls provide motor overload protection to prevent motor burnout & nuisance trips.
  • They come equipped with a tachometer to record unloaded speed and are packed in a rugged NEMA / IP30 rated enclosure for protection against dangerous electrical parts.
  • These units are facilitated with run / stop & forward / reverse switches for ease in operation and come with a Dayton DC speed control manual for user convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the operating temperature range for Dayton DC speed controls?

Dayton DC speed controls have an ambient operating temperature range of -10 to 45 degrees C.

Does the trimpot unit require any calibration post-installation?

The adjustable trimpot units are mostly factory calibrated. They can be readjusted for special cases by manually adjusting minimum / maximum / acceleration / deceleration speeds or slip compensation (Volts/Hz) of the DC control.

Why are speed controls needed in a DC motor?

In most mechanical applications, a speed control controls the device's speed fluctuation to maintain a constant (or diminishing) torque. It is designed to perform in only one permanent magnet or shunt wound DC motor.
