How to install a woodruff key?
- Press the key into the semi-circular key slot (milled into the shaft). Tap the flat, protruding key face using a hammer / mallet to seat the key firmly.
- Allign the flat surface parallel to the shaft. The key face may extend above the shaft's surface to lock the mated component in place.
- During installation, if the key slips out of the grooved key slot, then either the size is too small or the key is not press-fitted properly.
