Working Mechanism
- The direct acting type valves have internal spring loaded diaphragm which connects to a disc that modulates outlet flow controlling pressure.
- High pressure water that enters the valve is constricted inside the valve body.
- This constricting action is controlled by a disc and an adjustable spring loaded diaphragm.
- Even if the input supply pressure fluctuates, this diaphragm & disc combination ensures a constant water flow at the outlet.
- The spring tension controls the outlet water pressure which can be increased / decreased by loading or unloading the valve spring.
- In case the downstream water pressure is above the set pressure, the diaphragm inside the valve compresses the spring.
- If the downstream water pressure is under the set pressure, the valve spring pushes the valve to increase the flow from the regulator.
- These valves are installed mid line before fixtures and after backflow preventers and water supply stops. They have inlet and outlet ports that are installed in series with the pipe.
