Soil Auger Kits

AMS soil sampling augers & kits provide access to the sampling points for boring deep holes and obtaining samples of various soil / mud types at or near the surface. They come with specially designed bits for a rapid drilling operation.

Signature Series, Soil Auger Kits
AMS Signature Series mini soil auger kits are suitable for sampling and testing soil cores from the ground to depths of 12 or 16 feet. These kits include one Signature Series regular & mud auger (2-1/4 or 3-1/4 inches), four extensions (3 or 4 feet), one 18 inch rubber coated handle and one flexible, Poly-Canvas case (black). AMS regular auger has a helical flighting wrapped around a cylindrical shaft with a cutting edge at the bottom. This design helps to obtain disturbed soil or near-the-surface samples with small clumps or particles. The brand's mud auger features a laser-cut, cylindrical design for easy removal of heavy, wet or clay soils. It has spaced bits to ease the entry of sticky soils for collection. Signature Series rubber cross handles have an open-gear mechanism that easily cleans gear. Poly-Canvas cases, on the other hand, help store and transport valuable sampling equipment to any location. AMS Signature Series sampling components are further integrated with a heavy-thread configuration that provides a robust and durable connection between the different parts of an auger, such as the head, extensions and handles. This allows the components to easily connect and disconnect with only 2-1/2 turns, thereby minimising the risk of galling.

Working Mechanism
- In case of regular augers, attach the auger head tightly to a suitable extension and cross handle.
- Position the auger on the soil surface at the desired angle and turn clockwise for about three revolutions or until the cylinder is full.
- Remove the auger from the hole.
- Tilt the auger and tap or shake the cross handle against the ground to empty the cylinder contents through the bail.
- Return the auger head to the hole and repeat the same process until the required depth is reached.
- Collect the sample.
