Working Mechanism
A jaw coupling is made of three parts: two metallic hubs (jaw coupling hub) and an elastomer insert / element or spider. Once the machinery starts running & the driving shaft starts rotating, the hub jaws attached to the driving shaft push towards the driven hub jaws and thereby towards the stationary shaft.
The jaws being locked together leads to torque transfer and rotation of the stationary shaft. These elastomeric spider legs act as coupling absorbers and help in cushioning the force between the driving & driven jaws.
