Condensate Pumps

Condensate pumps are used for collecting and removing condensate water from refrigeration, HVAC, steam and condensing boiler furnace systems. Raptor Supplies offers a wide range of condensate pumps from Little Giant, Dayton and Marvel. These pumps are electrically powered and run intermittently. Little Giant condensate pumps are used in high-efficiency gas furnaces, air conditioning units and condensing boilers where gravity drainage is not possible. These pumps have floats made of ABS plastic, polypropylene and polystyrene ensuring low friction, high tensile strength and excellent shock resistance. They can handle pressure up to 26 psi and can be operated at temperatures up to 140 degrees F. Marvel condensate pumps are designed for use with clear ice makers. They feature sealed reservoirs to prevent flooding & leaks, and provide a reservoir capacity of 38.9 oz. These UL and cUL listed pumps deliver an output of 1035 watts and can be operated at temperaturess up to 110 degrees F. These condensate pumps have current ratings ranging between 0.1 and 9 A.

Working Mechanism

  • Condensate pumps move water, known as condensate from the collection pan to a drain or discharge point.
  • When the water level in the collection pan rises, the pump activates and begins pumping water out.
  • Once the water level drops to a certain point, the pump turns off until needed again.

Features

Little Giant Condensate Removal Pumps :

  • These VCMA-20 Series pumps are powered by a 1/30 hp motor and have an ABS tank, motor cover & volute for durability and corrosion resistance.
  • They have a 1/2-gallon tank capacity to sufficiently handle condensation produced by boilers, furnaces and air conditioning systems.
  • These CSA-certified condensate removal pumps can withstand liquid temperatures up to 140 degrees F.

Hartell HAR Series Condensate Pumps :

  • They have a miniature design, requiring a smaller footprint for installations in limited spaces.
  • These condensate pumps utilise a 19 dBA diaphragm motor for ultra-quiet operation and vibration-free performance.
  • They are equipped with high-level alarms featuring volt-free contacts to open/close the pump when the tank detects excessive water levels.
  • These condensate pumps incorporate thermal overload protection to prevent motor failure due to dangerous overheating.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the significance of high-level alarms in these condensate pumps?

High-level alarms are installed in a condensate tank that signals excessive build-up of condensate while protecting against leaks and overflows that may cause severe damage.

How do you install a condensate pump in a boiler?

  • Ensure the pump is free from packaging and debris, with clear venting slots.
  • Turn off the power at the fuse box.
  • Connect the power cord to the specified voltage from a constant power source.
  • Wire any safety switch according to the pump's specifications.
  • Securely mount the pump close to the air conditioning unit, below the coil drain, ensuring it is level.
  • Use screws to attach the pump to the wall, ensuring it won't splash or interfere with operation.
  • Use flexible tubing as the drain pipe, ensuring gravity assists in draining.
  • Consider installing a check valve on the discharge line to prevent backflow.
  • Turn the power back on and run the air conditioning unit to test the pump.
  • Ensure proper functioning of electrical components and check for leaks in the piping.

What is the recommended capacity for condensate pumps?

The typical Gallons Per Hour (GPH) capacity of condensate pumps ranges from 2 to 3 times the condensing rate of water per hour. For larger tanks, a capacity of 1.5 to 2 times the condensing rate may be sufficient.

How do I choose the right condensate removal pump for my applications?

Consider factors such as the amount of condensate produced, the size of the HVAC system, the installation space available and specific requirements or features you may have, such as alarm or automatic shutoff systems.
